About Villa Solbacka
A charming summer villa, built in 1914, in Jugend style. Total 12 rooms, 300 sqm.
Nice large country kitchen, two living rooms with fireplaces, a library, a dining room and two verandas, both with sea views. Upstairs you have 5 bedrooms with 10 beds. You also find a newly built, generous bathroom with washing machine and tumble dryer. Altogether the house offers 2 showers and 3 toilets.
Villa Solbacka is a home full of ideas and inspiration, decorated with interior knowledge. The Scandinavian interior style, spiced with jugend, original from when the house was built, is handled to a beautiful mix, but also functional and modern as today’s guests demand.
The sunlight glitter through the old oak trees and enhances the feeling of nature being present even indoors and gives each room its own magic.
You find fireplaces and Swedish tile stoves in nearly each room (as well as electric heating of course, but very rarely needed summertime) The kitchen is made for culinary adventure. Here you can cook together, or just hang out in comfortable armchairs. Kitchen table sits 10 persons.
The greenhouse, loved by everyone, is very romantic and special made of old windows, and has grape- and tomato plants. Also in the greenhouse there is room for 10 persons around the table – nice for a lunch, a drink or a late evening supper! Outside the greenhouse you find the kitchen garden with fresh herbs.
The garden is large, altogether 5000 sqm and you find roses, lavender, peonies as well as wild flowers of all kinds. For the children there is a beloved playhouse and swings of course.
There is an open motorboat belonging to the house for your service. The motorboat is handy for going shopping in Vaxholm or why not go fishing?
Finally, bicycles of different sizes are included in the rent.
The location of Stegesund is only an hour by local ferry to the centre of Stockholm with boats trafficking several times a day. It is easy to go to Stockholm and back in a day. To the small town, Vaxholm it is only a 10 min boat ride, with the local ferry or with your own boat
Tennis, as a guest at Villa Solbacka, you have free access to play on Sweden’s only working outdoor tennis court! Very exciting! The tennis court is the pride of the islanders and was originally built in 1904.
In Vaxholm you find grocery store, bakery, fresh vegetables at the town square, fish shop, nice restaurants, pharmacy, liquor store, health centre and other services.
Stockholm is close by. A short walk from the house there is regular ferries from the island to the centre of Stockholm, leaving several times of the day. The journey takes about an hour.
In Stockholm, do not miss the museum of the Vasa ship, Astrid Lindgren Saga World, the Old Town and why not, some scandinavian shopping.

“If I have to choose, I am in love with the garden with the old beautiful greenhouse, the perfect place to sit and read your book! Plus it was absolutely wonderful to pick my own blueberries in the woods! It wouldn’t be possible for us in Germany. If our children were to choose they would have lived in the playhouse ONLY – they just LOVED it! Plus the swings were also favourites!
A couple of times we took the local ferry to Stockholm for the day, which was surprisingly easy and a pleasant trip in just over an hour. ”
“The open sky, the sea and the friendly atmosphere of the house was just perfect for all of us as we gathered at Solbacka and Stegesund to celebrate my father’s 60th birthday together with his children and grandchildren. Solbacka was a perfect place: harmony stylish, luxurious but also cosy, familiar and easy to like”
